Never A Goodbye by N. Lugo

Waving to his wife and kids, thinking it would be his last time seeing them, a flower petal surfed the winds. Sunrise rose as the smoke from the cannons blinded him. He can hear the laugher of his kids in the distance as another flower petal danced in the wind.

Chills ran up my spin. Seeing my own tomb stone made me sick. Why did I have to do this? Night was falling and sooner or later they’ll be looking for me. I slowly bent down to kiss the stone knowing this was just the beginning. “Goodnight Carrie, sweet dreams.”
