Of Music Be The Sound Of Life...Play On- 30 points

What Is This Sorcery- 30 points

Pulse
This interactive game is played among two people in order to complete each mission. The storyline includes two characters, Kate and Jake, who are trapped in an underground tunnel after exploring with their other friend, Chris. In the beginning of the game, Chris fell in a hole that was hidden behind a tree at their local park. the mission is for Kate and Jake to help find their friend as well as escape safely without being caught by the underground 'Pippers' (people who live there and are known for capturing teenagers). Each player has their own 'power' and is needed in each level in order to escape. these powers work together to attack the enemies as well as break through walls etc. Communication is needed. The players are able to play with local friends as well as strangers throughout the world who have the same game console and game. It is a way to meet new people as well as have fun at the same time. As the game progresses, the levels get more complex as well as challenging. At the end of the game, both players are required to defeat the big boss, who is the father of the 'Pipers'. In this level, both players need to use their specific powers to work together to both distract the enemy and making their way around it.

Life In One Sitting

I made this video in my MDIA 1400 Video Production class using different film clips from prelingerachives.com. The theme in chose was Life :)

Music is my life. Wherever I go, I always have my headphones on me. Headphones help us escape the world for awhile and to just focus on our thoughts and what we want in life. Music in general has helped me through becoming who I am today.

Character Color Timeline- 120 points

In this link you find, the first season of Switched at Birth and how the clothing on both Bay and Daphne have changed throughout the season. Overall, their clothing color didn't change much since it is more focused on how their personalities are rather than their emotions and feelings in each episode. For example, Bay is more serious and likes danger and is welling to overcome anything and is very determine in what she wants in life and wont let anyone get in her way. Although she does have a soft side when it comes to her boyfriends she will always have a depressed side of her that the audience starts to realize. On the other hand, Daphne is more caring and independent in what she does. Both characters have similar personalities at times which creates conflicts throughout the season which their clothing will start to turn darker as they try to "destroy" each others lives in some way.

Not My Style- 60 points

The Regular Show: Muscle Man

Original: in this image, Muscle Man is structured as an overweight character who has a big head and always have his shirt either off or showing his stomach to emphasis his fat. he has small feet and hands so that way the audience's focus is on his stomach and face. His structure involves circles and squares. Hi face is shaped as a square and his body is more of a circle.
The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack: in this image, Muscle Man is structured as if he were part of the show Flapjack. He has more details and showing in his hair and face to bring out more of a realistic style. His head is the same size but his body is more proportional as well as his hair.

My Style: in this image, Muscle Man is structured the way I would draw him. His head is proportional with his body, and his is slightly thinner. His stomach is still showing and his hair hasn't changed. I made his face more of a round shape than square and kept his body circular. He has more of a relax characteristic with how his eyes are half way closed and his smile. His hair has texture than the original picture.

Words + Images- 30 points

For my visuals I decided to use aquatic images in order for the audience to relate to the poem. For the third image (the girl in the water), this relates to what that part of the poem in saying. The seventh image (the ocean being held) represents that the ocean might be frightening and mystery at times, but if we believe, we are able to hold the wondrous it holds within our hands.

This Song Sucks! 75 points

Friday- Rebecca Black

Source: Drums, Electric Piano
Time/Tempo: Adante
Groove: Pop
Instrumentation: Drums, percussion
Structure/Organization: Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, rap, chorus, chorus
Emotional Architecture: Emotional architecture, starts of her "talking" and then jumps into a more up beat and catchy chorus, which creates a happy mood for the listener
Height: Rap- Low Frequency- Chorus- High Frequency
Width: No Panning
Depth: Drums, Electric Piano, Vocals

What makes this song bad is the fact that the vocals sound like they are being sung through the nasal, which creates this annoying voice to hear. The chorus may be catchy and repetitive but the way the song is built makes this song a bad song but yet a song that many people “like.”
Gangnam Style - PSY

Source: Electric Beats, Drums, Symbols
 Time/Tempo: Adante
Groove: Pop
Instrumentation: Drums, Electric Piano, Symbols
Structure/ Organization: Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus
Emotional Architecture: Starts off with the singer saying the title of the song, does into the first verse and into the chorus after. The verses sound as if they are being spoken rather than sung which creates this build up to the chorus and the bridge where the lyrics are then sung.
Height: verse: low frequency- chorus: high frequency- bridge: low frequency
Width: no planning
Depth: Drums, Electric Piano, Vocals, Symbols

What makes this song really bad is the way it is repetitive throughout the song. The beat of the song is annoying. Maybe its the fact that is has been over played when it was popular but the song is structured poorly. Maybe if the singer used different instruments to create the beat, then it would have been a better song.

Crank That (Soulja Boy)- Soulja Boy Tell'em

Source: Finger Snaps, Steel Drums, Electric Beats
Time/Tempo: Adante
Groove: Hip-Hop, Pop, Rap
Instrumentation: Finger Snaps, Steel Drums, Electric Beats
Structure/ Organization: Chorus, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus
Emotional Architecture: Starts off with the singer talking "introducing himself," and the beat is introduced as he is talking. The whole  song sounds as if he is talking, especially during the verses.
Height: verse: high frequency- chorus: high frequency- bridge: low frequency
Width: Electric Betas in left ear
Depth: Finger Snaps, Steel Drums, Electric Beats, Vocal

Overall I think the only reason this song was so popular was because of the dance and how everyone wanted to dance it. The lyrics to the song is horrible and reparative. The only reason this song will be "alight" to hear is because of the finger snapping in the beat, which makes people want to snap along and creates a catchy beat.

Everyone Needs a Sidekick: 30 points

Mind Man

If I were a superhero, my sidekick will be Mind Man. (I started to draw and it ended up looking like a guy) He is able to read minds which was first developed and discovered after his car accident about a 5 years ago when he was just a kid. What caused this rare power was the fact that when the accident occurred, a piece of metal from the road got into his elbow which not only allowed him to read minds but created muscles throughout his body. With his power he can hear people's thoughts as they walk pass him. He is able to stop crime by thinking ahead and being able to hear the thoughts of the enemies before the action occurs. His weakness is when he is held in a fight, it stains his mind by enemies fighting against their own thoughts. The only way he is capable to concentrate on his own thought is if he focuses for a long time.

CHRIS BROWN: "RIHANNA SCANDAL"              LINDSAY LOHAN: "DRUGGY"

TV 2 Game: 60 points

The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack

Free game for internet:
This game will allow players to guide Flapjack through a maze in order to collect as much candy as he can from the Candy Barrel before being caught by Peppermint Larry. There are obstacles such as, Sailors (guards the path), Doctor Barber (wanting to steal your candy), and Eight-Armed Willy (roaming the maze). This game is colorful, due to all the candy that are being collected and when player reaches a certain number of candy (100 points), the player will gain an "rush" and will be able to run faster with the screen changing colors for effect. When a level is completed, the gamer is then given a more difficult level with more obstacles and more candy is needed to be collected. There will be only 15 levels that can be completed due to the fact that it is an online game and is a "promotion" for the show to be seen by viewers.

Stand-alone game:
This game is more complex and more realistic by how the gamer is allowed to pick from Flapjack or Cap'n K'nuckles in order to start their adventure. We are then transported to Stormalong with Bubbie. The players mission is to successfully arrive at "Candied Island." The game is then opened with a short movie clip then the first level begins after. Each level contains a "mission" that one must complete in order to move on through the next level. The player has to run through town and avoid the enemies and complete that mission, such as find Doctor Barber and find his lost hair combs. We are approached with strange characters and the gamer needs to help them find what they’ve lost in order to get enough coins to ride Bubbie to get to Candied Island. Candy is scattered throughout each level and if enough are collected, the character is able to either eat it for energy and will be able to run faster, or exchange it for coins. There are shops throughout Stormalong which are opened during the day and the character is able to enter and play mini games and socialize with their friends (Xbox live, friend needs to have the same game and game console in order to interact). When the day turns night, the character needs to get to "shelter" (Bubbie's mouth) in order to be safe from more enemies roaming the dock and wanting to steal your money and candy. The character has a life bar that can be refilled by eating candy. This game is based off of episodes and characters that appear on the show.

Simple game for TV Show's Website:
This game will be more of a "dress up" game. The player will be able to accessorize characters from the show, Flapjack, Cap'n K'nuckles, Bubbie, Peppermint Larry, and Doctor Barber. Each character will have their own drawn wear the gamer is able to pick either outfits or individual pieces and dress up their character in numerous ways. For example, Flapjack can either wear a dress (such as the one that he was wearing in one episode), a captain outfit with black and red stripes as well as a bird that can be placed on his shoulders and many more. When the player is done with picking their outfit, they are able to print their creation or put the character through a "fashion show" that is taken placed on Stormalong on the dock with the audience being local sailors cheering and whistling. This game is a way to attract viewer's attention as well as have fun while viewing the shows website.

Joke Video: 75 points

Together we recreated Tyler LaCount’s storyboard as a joke video. We did this by gathering in the lobby of James Hall on campus and followed the storyboard to the best of our abilities. It was tough for a lot of the jokes because a lot of them included props such as cars, dishwashers, animals, etc. For our joke in particular we needed a dog, a talking bird, and a dishwasher, all items in which we did not have available to us. However we improvised to the best of our abilities. We used ourselves for the animals by acting as such. We also used a vending machine in place of a dishwasher. We shot the video on basic HD camera and uploaded it on Final Cut Pro to edit it. The hard part was to make the video 2-3 minutes as assigned, but it was tough because this joke was too short and the storyboard we had did not add any action to make the video longer. For example the storyboard creator could have included a scene in which the repairman got the keys to the house under the doormat. Regardless, we followed the storyboard exactly as specified in order to complete the project.

Inspired Fiction: 50 point

Short Story About Junior Year:

It was junior year if High School, I had a boyfriend named Jake, who we have been dating for more than 10 months, and our Homecoming was approaching soon.  Like all the girls in our school, I was looking forward in dancing and seeing all my friends there in their pretty dresses. “Homecoming” was the only word that was heard throughout the halls. Since I went the previous year, I wanted to go that year especially since we were together and I though it would be fun to go with our other friends as a group thing. As the day got closer I was thinking about going shopping with my friends and looking for a dress and shoes that I can wear for that night.
The next day at school, I noticed that Jake was acting kind of strange and avoiding to me. I would approach him and slowly touched the subject of Homecoming to see if he would ask me if I wanted to go…but nothing. The only reply I would get back was, “oh how was your day?” or “they’re giving free pizza at the lunch line after school today, you want to get some?” I knew something was up and when I would ask him what was wrong and he just kept saying, "nothing," so I left it like that.
Later that week his best friend, Evan ran up to me and told me that he didn't have the courage to tell me that he didn't want to go to Homecoming since he doesn't like to dance. Me being his girlfriend, I understood and didn't push the issue.
What made me upset though was the fact that we broke up that same week and I found out that he was taking his new girlfriend to Homecoming. I would see them everyday walking the hallways and just me thinking to myself that I would find someone better in my life and who respects me enough to never do such a thing like that. Pictures of them were posted on Facebook and how he was happy that he was going. I let this go thinking to myself that I will find something better in my life. Plus to be honest…I didn't like Homecoming at our school.
That year I didn’t end up going to Homecoming and ended up spending time with my best friend, Odette, know that is was her last year and I wanted to cherish every moment that we had the chance to hang out.

From this day on we are still friends even though what he did was wrong. He even came to visit me here at Ohio University with his best friend during Halloween. And although we will never be together again, I will cherish every moment we spent together and thank him for making me a stronger person and teaching me how to face my inner emotions. We have moved on and are now attending different colleges. Although that happened, I forgave him and remind myself that everything happens for a reason.
